Environmentally
Sustainable Housing
We have to act now to help prevent climate change, this has been scientifically
proven and urgent action is required. The government is committed
to this and has introduced strict guidelines for new build properties
to reduce their levels of carbon output throughout the build and the
life of the housing stock through to its final clearance. The Government
is committed to this as shown by the draft Climate Change Bill proposing
to cut carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2050 compared to 1990 levels.
Building sustainable
homes is more than just the carbon footprint associated with the
property. It is also about how we build and use the house and how
we minimise the impact our homes have on the environment such as
in the use of water, the way waste is generated and the materials
the house is built from.
